This slate was quarried over a hundred years ago in Binghamton, NY and transported to Hawai'i to be used as a roofing shingle on the Kawaiha'o Church (Built 1820) where generations of the Hawaiian royal family worshiped. The piece has an antique Koa wood frame to beautifully capture the slate art. The artist himself was born and raised in Honolulu and has deeply studied both art and his culture in order to treasure it best for all of time.
